New Roots Counselling began in 2016 with the aim of offering professional, affordable and empirically-validated counselling therapy to individuals in Aberdeen, Scotland.
In July 2019 I moved to Frankfurt Germany and expanded New Roots Counselling to work with English-speaking individuals in Frankfurt and Online.

Professional Background
I became interested in the field of Counselling and Psychotherapy during my Masters Degree in Psychology at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland. I completed my Diploma soon after and have practiced in a variety of therapeutic agencies.
My core pratice is based upon Person-Centred (Humanistic) Therapy and over the years I have gained experience in the following approaches:
-
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
-
Existential Psychotherapy
-
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy

My practice is Pluralistic, which means that I can draw upon a number of different psychotherapeutic approaches in order to best support you as you explore and process the issues you bring to sessions. Pluralistic therapy is a collaborative process in which we work together to identify therapeutic goals, discuss preferences for therapeutic approaches and review your sense of the therapeutic process regularly.

I am an Accredited Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and my practice is guided by their Ethical Framework.
Accredited membership with BACP means that I have shown a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association and a consistent dedication to ethical standards.

Personal Background
Originally from Northern Ireland, I lived in Scotland for 10 years and moved to Frankfurt, Germany in July 2019.

My personal belief is that counselling is a unique relationship in which you are the focus. By discussing issues honestly and exploring their possible causes, effects and impact, you can gain a greater understanding of the issues, yourself and find opportunities for growth and change.
It is, therefore, my role to facilitate an environment that offers the right conditions in which you can undertake this process, and to work collaboratively with you to find the right therapeutic intervention that will be the most influential for you.

Outside of Counselling, I have a deep passion for the outdoors, nature and rock-climbing. Nature and the outdoors is my source of mindfulness and peacefulness.
